Hypnotherapy – Hypnosis

Imagine you are sitting comfortably, breathing naturally, feeling totally supported and completely relaxed. In a moment you are asked to gently close your eyes and to visualize yourself on a path moving easily forward. … As you continue along you notice that the path ends in front of a set of stone stairs that leads to a doorway. Take a nice, deep breath and realize that in a moment you will step through the doorway into a lovely transformative space where, through hypnosis, you will find many keys to who you really are ….

Your vision will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside themselves dreams; who look inside, awakens.” – Carl Jung

Hypnotherapy is an alternative therapy that uses the art of specific language to engage and communicate with the subconscious mind, which communicates through the imagination, visions, metaphors, and dreams. The subconscious enjoys and responds to stories and inspirational journeys that lead to new understanding, epiphanies, and well-phrased suggestions. Its job is to keep us alive and to keep us safe; it holds all of our memories and beliefs that motivate our behaviors. When behaviors are problematic, it is fortunate that the subconscious, through the use of hypnosis, is willing to reframe, which is to view experiences and beliefs in a new perspective. This is how real, lasting change takes place, since the subconscious mind is the driving force in your life.

Most people believe that it is their conscious, intellectual, analytical, and critical mind that is in control, and of course conscious choices are made and easily succeed, when supported by the subconscious mind. But when things don’t flow and you find yourself unable to follow through, or you are unable to accomplish what you wish, you may feel conflicted. There is a very strong probability that you know exactly what has to happen to bring about the results you seek. You can talk about your issue or problem extensively, even with a cognitive therapist, which can provide some insight but yet things will remain the same. It is only when the two aspects of the mind—conscious and subconscious—are in harmony that you don’t have to force certain behaviors or use will power to make the changes or improvements, such as weight loss, that you desire.

Talk therapy engages the conscious mind, which is overwhelmingly facile at creating blocks to avoid hurtful problems; in hypnosis, the therapist is dealing with the subconscious mind and can get at core problems more quickly.” – Dr. Tanya Edwards, Director of the Center for Integrative Medicine, Cleveland Clinic

Before Choosing a Therapist

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our Light, not our Darkness, that most frightens us.” – Marianne Williamson
